Doll/Miniature House Camp - Grades 1+ SOLD OUT

JULY 15 - JULY 19; GRADES 1+   

Doll/ Miniature House Camp - What if you could build, design and play with your very own custom doll/ superhero/miniature house? Each camper will start with a wooden house kit from IKEA. After assembling it, they will become interior decorators, deciding on paint colors and/or wallpaper designs for each room. We will create blueprints and a floor plan and then create the miniature items and furniture that they want in their custom home.  We will be usually a wide variety of materials to make our dreams become reality; including wood, cardboard, recycled items, and polymer clay. This is a fantastic opportunity to use one’s imagination and then problem solve to create what is envisioned. This camp is awesome for both boys and girl and was such a huge hit last summer that we have now made it a full day camp. Materials fee: $40. Instructor: Stacy Gates

Sewing, Fashion & Fiber Art - We will introduce hand and machine sewing to these campers to teach how they can create and personalize clothing, accessories and projects for their room. Fashion aspects will include creating a mood board, drawing fashion illustrations and creating accessories and jewelry. Fashion Design & Sewing - Love fashion? This camp combines hand and machine sewing skills

with learning about the process of fashion design. Students will learn about fashion illustration, mood boards and design inspiration. We will sew from scratch as well as repurposing existing garments. Campers will also have an opportunity to create actual fabric from one of their drawings. Mandala Dot Painting on Pottery

We have a new material for your mandala making fun.

Gabby Hayward will be teaching you how to create a mandala design on a piece of pottery. This project is suitable for many pottery shapes and we will have a selection of plates, mugs, bowls, and more that you may choose from to create your unique design.

After completion, your pottery will be glazed with a clear glaze and fired in our kiln so that it is food and dishwasher safe. It will be ready for pick-up in 10-14 days.

Living In the USA Camp - We’ll be celebrating the states within the USA during this week of our Country’s independence. This is definitely not a geography camp, but we will be selecting different landmarks (think a Golden Gate bridge painting for California), favorite foods ( think pineapples from Hawaii; maple syrup from VT), weather ( sun painting from the Sunshine State) or similar topics that make our states unique and our country so fantastic.

Mandala Dot Painting Workshop

Come join us as we learn to create beautiful painted mandalas. 

In Buddhist culture, mandalas are said to transmit positive energy to the environment and to the people who view them. They are believed to effect purification and healing, and to achieve a sense of oneness with the universe. We will be painting our mandalas on 4” x 4” canvases after learning the relatively easy methods for creating perfect symmetrical dots of all sizes. Your finished artwork will be perfect for hanging in an entryway, bedroom or little nook. . This workshop is for ages 14 + older. Younger children may attend with a participating adult.

Art From Our Favorite Books - We will be combining two of my favorite activities for children in this camp - the love of art and reading. Characters and settings from a variety of favorite childrens/young adult books will provide the inspiration for our varied art creations this week. We will include both classic and contemporary books for inspiration and encourage campers to share their favorites with us. In addition, we will look at how artists draw pictures to go with stories and campers will create their own illustrated book. Shibori Dyed Tea Towels

Learn how to dye with indigo in the Shibori manner.

Shibori is a Japanese style of resist dyeing that involves twisting, tying, binding, folding, stitching and other manipulation of fabric. We will demonstrate a number of classic techniques and guide you to create your own unique designs.  $45 - this class fee includes materials fee of $10.

You may also bring two additional small items to dye or purchase additional towels or napkins for $5 each.

Art Museum Diorama & Art of Famous Artists - This week, we will be designing & building a foam core art museum. Each child will then become the museum’s curator by choosing the artwork they want to exhibit and recreating it in miniature form.  Children will have access to many materials to make their museums unique and show their creative ideas. Finally, the children will put together a museum program providing information about the artists, art forms and background of their exhibit. In the afternoon, campers will utilize a variety of artistic techniques, all inspired by famous artists,to create full size art that that focuses on self-expression and creativity. Come spend a fun evening painting a pair of wine glasses with a large floral design. You will have a choice of stemmed or stemless glassware and may choose from several different flower patterns. Makes such a cute set of classes; perfect for wedding or anniversary gifts.

No prior painting experience required; we will walk you through the process step-by-step to ensure fabulous results.

The class fee of $38 includes two glasses, all paints and supplies, step by step instruction and snacks. This painting party allows you to bring your own beverage to sip on while painting. We will have glasses, wine openers and napkins. (included materials fee is $13)

Additional glasses are available for $6/glass as time permits.

Winter Session 1: This first session meets for 4 weeks on Mondays from 1/14 - 2/11 (no class on 1/21).

Winter Session 2: The second session meets for 5 weeks on Mondays from 3/4 - 4 /1.

Class meets from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm each week.

Students will learn both hand sewing and machine sewing fundamentals in these beginning sewing classes while enjoying lots of creative freedom. Stacy has four machines that are only used for teaching and has lots of great tricks for making sewing fun, successful & stress free. Class is limited to only 6 students so that each student receives a lot of individual attention. All supplies and fabric are included in fee.

This is a four week class that meets on May 3, 10, 17 & 24 from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm.

The use of color is one of the most important and exciting aspects of painting. Learning about color theory, experimenting with mixing colors, and gaining an understanding of how paint colors behave with each other is essential for painting in any medium.

We will begin with the basics of both color theory and painting techniques. As we learn about different color interactions we will create color study paintings in order to to establish a link between what we are learning and what we are painting.

This class is perfect for both the beginning and intermediate painter as professional painters know that with every painting there is always more to learn about color.

Spring Break Art Camp

For children in Grades K+.

Each day we will explore a number of different art mediums based on a specific daily theme.  In addition to completing 3-4 art projects a day, we also provide time for game playing, free choice art time, and fun snack preparation.

Daily themes for this camp are:

  • Monday - Fun with Self Portraits (FULL)

  • Tuesday - Mosaics (FULL)

  • Wednesday - Polymer Clay Miniatures & Jewelry (FULL)

  • Thursday - Polynesian Art

  • Friday - Cats & Dogs - the art of Laurel Burch and George Rodriguez (FULL)

Camp runs each day from 9:30am - 4:00pm. The morning session ends at 12:30pm and the afternoon session starts at 1:00 pm. Campers should bring a snack and lunch (full day only) and dress for making a mess.  Please note that camps have a 48 hour cancellation policy or payment is due for a missed session.

Half Day - $35; Full Day - $60

Mini Needle Felted Landscape

You are invited to come “paint” with wool and create some beautiful landscape art. Working from a scenic photograph as a reference, participants in this class will learn to use wool roving as if it were paint, and manipulate a special barbed needle to create a small felted landscape. Participants may bring a landscape photograph as inspiration or use one provided by the instructor. This class is perfect for both beginners and more experienced felters.

This workshops is part of our Women’s Craft n’ Connect series held on the second Monday of each month. Teen girls are also welcome to attend. $30; all supplies provided.

Paper Quilling is an art of rolling narrow strips of paper into coils or scrolls, and arranging them to form elegant filigree. In this project, you'll learn how to use different techniques to roll coils and scrolls, then pinch, shape, and arrange them into decorative patterns to create a one of a kind Valentine Card for your honey.

Introduction to Embroidery - Heart Sampler

BEGINNING HAND EMBROIDERY – HEART SAMPLER

We will learn a variety of embroidery stitches as we create a heart shaped sampler that can be later framed or made into a pillow. You will learn about threads, tricks for starting and finishing them, and several methods for transferring your design onto fabric.  Whether you want to perk up your wardrobe with decorative stitches, create a piece of original embroidered art, or give a handmade Valentine gift, this workshop will start you on your way. Workshop Fee: $40 which also includes your choice of white or natural linen fabric and all tools and materials used during the workshop.
