BEGINNING SEWING CLASS

Thursdays , September 19 - October 10 ( 4 sessions)

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Learn to sew or improve your skills in this four-week hands-on beginner class. The class fee includes use of a sewing machine, a variety of fabric choices for the projects and any other materials or tools used in the class.
You will learn about  seams, hems, buttonholes, zippers, using a pattern, tools that make help make things easier and so much more. Stacy has been sewing for more than 50 years (and that is a really scary thought).

Beginning Acrylic Painting & Color Theory Class 4 weeks - 9/20 - 10/11

This is a four week class that meets on September 20 & 27 and October 4 & 11 from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm.

The use of color is one of the most important and exciting aspects of painting. Learning about color theory, experimenting with mixing colors, and gaining an understanding of how paint colors behave with each other is essential for painting in any medium.

We will begin with the basics of both color theory and painting techniques. As we learn about different color interactions we will create color study paintings in order to to establish a link between what we are learning and what we are painting.

This class is perfect for both the beginning and intermediate painter as professional painters know that with every painting there is always more to learn about color.

Class Fee: $100; includes materials fee of $15..

Silkscreen a Canvas Tote Bag

Lets print together!

In this workshop we’ll be building our own custom silk screens, learning how to use contact paper as a resist, and pulling our own prints! You’ll learn about traditional screen printing techniques and then we’ll get busy with a simple DIY method so we can jump right in

By the end of class you’ll have a funky fresh tote bag covered in your design, printed by your own two hands. Not only that, but you’ll be able to take your new skills home with you to start printing on paper, shirts, cards, and more!

This is a wonderful beginner class for you to dip your toes into the world of screen printing and all supplies will be provided.

Mandala Dot Painting on Pottery

We have a new material for your mandala making fun.

Gabby Hayward will be teaching you how to create a mandala design on a piece of pottery. This project is suitable for many pottery shapes and we will have a selection of plates, mugs, bowls, and more that you may choose from to create your unique design.

After completion, your pottery will be glazed with a clear glaze and fired in our kiln so that it is food and dishwasher safe. It will be ready for pick-up in 10-14 days.

Class fee: $28 & $10 materials fee

This pattern is an excellent starting point for learning chain maille. There is a $10 materials fee included in the price to cover the cost of your silver rings and earring findings. $40 total cost.

Shibori Dyed Tea Towels

Learn how to dye with indigo in the Shibori manner.

Shibori is a Japanese style of resist dyeing that involves twisting, tying, binding, folding, stitching and other manipulation of fabric. We will demonstrate a number of classic techniques and guide you to create your own unique designs.  $45 - this class fee includes materials fee of $10.

You may also bring two additional small items to dye or purchase additional towels or napkins for $5 each.

Mini Needle Felted Landscape

You are invited to come “paint” with wool and create some beautiful landscape art. Working from a scenic photograph as a reference, participants in this class will learn to use wool roving as if it were paint, and manipulate a special barbed needle to create a small felted landscape. Participants may bring a landscape photograph as inspiration or use one provided by the instructor. This class is perfect for both beginners and more experienced felters.

This workshops is part of our Women’s Craft n’ Connect series held on the second Monday of each month. Teen girls are also welcome to attend. $30; all supplies provided.

Paper Quilling is an art of rolling narrow strips of paper into coils or scrolls, and arranging them to form elegant filigree. In this project, you'll learn how to use different techniques to roll coils and scrolls, then pinch, shape, and arrange them into decorative patterns to create a one of a kind Valentine Card for your honey.

This workshop is part of our Craft n’ Connect monthly series for women. It meets on the 2nd Monday of each month. ( You are more than welcome to bring your daughters to this workshop also.)

BEGINNING HAND EMBROIDERY – HEART SAMPLER

We will learn a variety of embroidery stitches as we create a heart shaped sampler that can be later framed or made into a pillow. You will learn about threads, tricks for starting and finishing them, and several methods for transferring your design onto fabric.  Whether you want to perk up your wardrobe with decorative stitches, create a piece of original embroidered art, or give a handmade Valentine gift, this workshop will start you on your way. Workshop Fee: $40 which also includes your choice of white or natural linen fabric and all tools and materials used during the workshop.

REVERSE APPLIQUE - NATALIE CHANIN INSPIRED

This is one of our favorite embellishment techniques and we are in love with the work of Natalie Chanin who creates amazing garments with it. If you can do basic handsewing , you can do this. We will stencil a design, place contrasting fabric under the design, stitch along the outside of the design and then cut the top fabric.. This workshop is for women or girls 14 years and older and is suited to beginners and experienced sewers alike. Please bring a tee shirt, yoga pants or some other item of knit fabric. $30
