2019 Summer Camp Descriptions and Information

Background: Art is the touchstone for our summer camps at Manchester Arts Studio.  Our programs provide kids with the chance to explore the world of art and develop their own creativity through a wide range of activities. Campers work with professional artists to produce unique and original works of arts, explore diverse themes, focus on the creative process and develop their imagination and creativity. Based on our belief that art is a great way to learn about other disciplines, instructors also incorporate activities that integrate science, math, and history knowledge. In our full days, an average day includes 3 - 4 art projects or activities,  plenty of outdoor activity or play time, water play, two snack times and a lunch break. This combination of activities, as well as our great instructors and small camp size, gives campers an incomparable art making experience that is active, stimulating and tons of fun. Our studio is fully air-conditioned and has a private backyard for outdoor play.

Art From Our Favorite Books - We will be combining two of my favorite activities for children in this camp - the love of art and reading. Characters and settings from a variety of favorite childrens/young adult books will provide the inspiration for our varied art creations this week. We will include both classic and contemporary books for inspiration and encourage campers to share their favorites with us. In addition,we will look at how artists draw pictures to go with stories and campers will create their own illustrated book. During the week, we  will go on walking field trips to both Northshire Bookstore and the Manchester Community Library. Instructors: Stacy Gates & Kate Franklin

Living In the USA Camp - We’ll be celebrating the states within the USA during this week of our Country’s independence. This is definitely not a geography camp, but we will be selecting different landmarks (think a Golden Gate bridge painting for California), favorite foods ( think pineapples from Hawaii; maple syrup from VT), weather ( sun painting from the Sunshine State) and other topics that make our states unique and our country so fantastic.
